Help for a BBQ spot

O

OnTheWayOut

Maybe someone here can help me. I want to take someone to a park somewhere for a bbq cookout. I'd like to bring my own bbq as I know how it cooks and want to make a really good ribeye steak for her. BTW, if you haven't had, try the ribeyes from Costco, they are wonderful!

Since I don't live in Ottawa I don't know the rules in the parks. Is it OK to bring a gas bbq to a park and cook? Or are there restrictions at some? I tried going to the Ottawa parks website but they don't mention BYO bbqs.

If I can't in Ottawa, do you guys know a place I can do this at not too far from Otown? This would be off topic but it's an SP I'm cooking for so ..... :p

thx in advance!

I think there is no probs with the BBQ in the park.. And yes the ribeyes are pretty good from costco.. The NY strips are a close second as well

Andrew Hayden Park on Carling Avenue in the west end is on the Ottawa River and is a great place for BBQ'ing.

It is across from the intersection of Corkstown Road and Carling, just east of the Nepean Sailing Club.

To clarify: that's Andrew Haydon Park.

Britannia Park (by Britannia Beach) is at the river, at the north end of Pinecrest Road (north of Carling).

Some parks require reservations for BBQing; call the city to confirm.

Slurp, be careful of Andrew Haydon........thats where all the geese are crapping all over the frigggen place.
If you re there and having a nice meal they could spoil the mood my pooping on you!! Have you not heard about it on the radio?
These menaces eat over 4lbs of stuff a day and poop out over 2lbs.......
The city of Ottawa is now hiring sheep dogs to start chasing the geese away so they find another place to go stay.
WOW.........OUR tax dollars ar work!!!!!

The geese are at Andrew Haydon Park about 2 kms west of Britannia.
You can't miss it, it has the a sailing club attached to it on the west side.

I am sure the geese will stick around and outsmart or beat up the dogs when they do start work there.
The dogs are going to start chasing in August.
But I am sure they will have city councillor hours.........work a few hours a day.

Ottawa sez .........

I called the city and got the scoop. BBQs are allowed but ONLY propane or natural gas. I'm trying to figure how anyone would get the natural gas to the park but that's the rules. Just figured to let you all know since everyone has been so helpful. Don't try taking your charcoal grill ..... they must be deemed environmentally unfriendly.

Hmm Slurp,
Some people do have large pick-ups that can fit a propane BBQ easily.
There are also light wieght units and smaller miniature propane units too with small tanks.
SO NOW FINALLY.........when are you gonna have this friggen BBQ??
The summer is gonna be over soon.......;)

Come on JP, read the damn post will ya? :p

I was wondering about natural gas, not propane. The one I'm using is propane. Natural gas is usually supplied via Enbridge thru underground pipes. I'm sure the city does not have natural gas hookups at the parks.

The picnic was delayed from last weekend due to rain, this weekend they are now calling for rain again tomorrow afternoon. I'll take a damn tent if I have to ...... lol
