HELP: an ethical question

Big Papa Smurf

aka:The Original Dr. Funk
The TERB has been very helpful to me over the past year. I want to help out my fellow Terbites as much as I can. However, I am now faced with a dilema.

One day I stumbled along a certain "high end" SP's website. When I mean "high end", I am talking about above the $300/hr rate. Her pics are smokin'! However, the pics I saw seemed very familiar. I knew that I have seen this SP's pics somewhere before, and it just peeked my curiosity. After some careful research, I found a pic on another site that was strikingly similar of this SP. The difference is this pic reveals the SP's face. Further research shows that this SP has never been reviewed on here.

This is my dilema. Should I reveal who this SP is to my fellow Terbites? Should I respect this SP's privacy and keep the info I found to myself?

**NOTE** These pics could have been stolen from another site, but I doubt it.

good question...

here's another...was the other site an sp site, or is it something not connected with her "other" profession?

if it wasn't specifically advertising her as an sp, i'd keep it to myself...she's made it clear on her own site that her privacy is of some importance...it's not our place to "out" someone, and possibly do damage to their personal lives...after all, how would we like it if someone was able to piece together our faces to our terb handle, and then draw public attention to it?

Probably best to keep it to yourself. Imagine for a moment an SP recognizing your face on a website and spreading that information around. I'd say if she wanted to share her other profession with us she'd post a link on her SP page....

Privacy would be the polite and ethically pure thing to do. If you want quantifiable paper, go read Canadian Federal privacy law Bill C6. :)

besides, people love a mystery.

Why would you like to share this information?

There is a bigger question. Why do you want to share this information? How would terbites benefit from this information? Privacy has different meaning when it comes to SPs and Clients. SPs, due to their nature of profession, have to reveal part of their identity. As far as clients are concerned, SPs are not showing any ethical behavior by keeping things confedential. In fact, if they don't keep clients identity confedential then they will loose business.

There is a third way out of your dilemma. You can PM to your fellow terbites. This way you don't keep the information to yourself and retain the confedentiality.

Actually, there's another way...email the SP and ask if she minds if you share the info.

I agree with Meesh..

Ask her it is her information and reputation at stake.

And as for hiding the face, it does nothing, unless when you see her her face is also covered. Once you see her, you would then recognize her anywhere you went.

I'm not even sure why you should find it necessary to even ask this? If she wanted everyone to know about this site don't you think she would have told you to begin with? How would you feel if one of the ladies you've seen stumbled across you in a local store? Do you think she should approach you, even if she noticed you were with another person? Talk openly with you and let the other person know what you've been doing?

In another thread here, some have issues with giving a real first name but you think it's ok to bring attention to an sp's *private* life?? Then you wonder why there's some ladies who refuse to put pics on the net. Jeeeez.

Yea sure if he tells everyone who she is now then everyone on here will be doing a search trying to find her other site! Not fair on the lady in question. So much for being discrete.

If you feel so conflicted, keep the pic to yourself and make a donation to TERB. The lady keeps her privacy and you get to feel like you are contributing to the board in a meaningful way. Who says that morals do not come at a price!
