Local Simcoe-Grey MP to Marry
It seems there's been more than politics going on in the benches of Stephen Harper's Conservative government.
Simcoe Grey's MP, Helena Guergis was seen sporting a big engagement ring at question period yesterday.
She and Edmonton-area MP Rahim Jaffer reportedly told their caucus colleages about their engagement at the caucus meeting Wednesday.
The pair have been dating for a year and a half. They regularly make the top three in Parliament Hill's "Sexiest'' and "Best-dressed'' lists.
She's 38, and won the Simcoe Grey seat in 2004. He's 35 and represents Edmonton-Strathcona, and has been in the house of commons since 1997.
No word at this point on how the two will amalgamate their households across the country. Once they're married, they'll be the second husband and wife team on Parliament Hill, joining the NDP's Jack Layton and Olivia Chow.
