Yesterday, I was at a chicken take out counter. I placed my order and got my ticket and waited for them to prepare my chicken dinner. The orders come out of a little window on to the counter, sometimes one of the two cashiers will help match the order to the ticket but sometimes the customers just pick up their dinners and leave. I saw a woman in her mid 40s pick up two separate dinners it was not two dinners packaged together. I did notice it but it could be that she was picking up a lunch for her co-worker and wanted it to be packaged and billed separately. I was a few people behind her, when the guy in front of me got to the counter his dinner was not there. Quite a few people saw the woman pick up to dinners but said nothing. She did not get caught, I suspect it was a last minute decision to kype the chicken dinner and she got away with it.

once while at Max milk i saw a kid about 10 years old lean in to the counter as his mother paid for some items. As he leaned in I watched him jam a couple of choclate bars down his shirt. Cashier couldn't see as he was on the other side of the counter, mother paid family left. Little prick

Why didn't you call the kid out to his Mum and the store owner - would have been a good lesson learned?

I saw a guy trying to steal a bike in front of a building one time... as he was looking through his theft tool bag for something, security came running out and tackled him and held him. guy claimed he lost the key to his bike lock and that it was his bike. cops arrived shortly after and arrested him. his bag was full of lock cutters, a crowbar and other things that looked like they'd be helpful if you were breaking into places or stealing things.

im pretty sure it made the security guards day or even year, those guys seem pretty bored a lot of the time and this time they actually got to help and do something

I was at Target in Niagara Falls and saw the department store equivalent of a swat team...six of them circling a bathroom, with walkies and ear pieces, hiding behind clothing racks and acting like they were going to take down bin Laden.

With all that going on I had to watch and see what the deal was. The deal was an 80 year old woman who put on a shirt and left hers behind.

I was at a home depot once and stood beside a woman returning a can of paint...half full...complaining it was the wrong color. I can't take it anymore and asked her at what point did she realize it was the wrong color because it seems like...she was short of paint...bought 1 gallon knowing she only needs half...and try to get her money back. She walked away...fuck her.

I was in a department store paying at the till when I saw 2 guys run outside. They brought some kid back in (and were strong arming him a little) and it took a second for me to figure out that he was probably shoplifting and just got caught.

This happens more than you think.... I you bypass the line at Tim Hortons, say, walk from the bathroom to the bagel pickup station when they are busy..... they just hand you stuff.

Scene: The returns-line at Canadian Tire. People are returning a gadget that has been recalled. The usual routine - you hand in the bad gadget and your receipt, and they give you a refund.

This kid didn't have a receipt. He said, "I stole it -- can I still get the refund?" The clerk said NO. The kid walked out.

Was working downtown. Went into the stockroom where my jacket was hanging and caught I guy in the act of grabbing my wallet. Grabbed him - slammed him into the stock shelves, took my wallet back and (naively) said that he better watch his step around work because I knew what he was all about. Things were fine for a while after that then the money starts disappearing at the end of the night, spoke to security, they busted the guy a few days later.... Man was he stupid.

I saw a pair of guys get tackled by loss prevention officers right outside the doors of an LCBO. Apparently they paid for something but one of them had something much more expensive concealed in his coat. His accomplice offered to pay for it once they were hauled back inside but no dice. The LP guys were big and burly and seemed to materialize out of thin air (nothing seems amiss until you suddenly you see a few guys charging towards the exits) and aren't afraid to get rough to subdue someone. If you want to shoplift better not do it at the LCBO.

I remember an older woman had security called on her at Eaton's Yorkdale for allegedly trying to return a coat for which she didn't have a receipt and staff were convinced she had just taken it from the rack and tried to get a cash "refund" for it. She pleaded with us customers in line when security came for her "do I look like a thief?"

I was at a big chain grocery store a few months ago at the self check out cash. There was a lady in front of me waiting to pay. An old woman of 75-80 came along and tried to push ahead of us. I told her that she should get in line behind me. She said that she already paid and pushed half a cart of groceries out without paying. There are only two ways to pay, through the regular cashier or through the electronic self check out cash. I am quite sure that she made off with free groceries.

Watched a guy swipe someone elses chips off of a blackjack table at the Golden Nugget. He made it about ten feet before being dropped by half a dozen casino security. Wouldn't want to be him.

I worked at Le Chateau for a few weeks while I was in high school. I was a sales personnel on the floor and I noticed a woman picking up a lot of accessories. She kept trying on necklaces and looking at earrings. She never placed anything back on the display rack. She had a huge purse with her and started walking away from the accessories area. I thought it was a little weird and kept my eye on her. She eventually tossed the necklaces and earrings into her purse, then began walking out of the store. I walked over to my manager to tell her what I saw, and she interrupted me complaining that my section of the store was getting messy. I really hated my manager, she was a bitch. So I got annoyed that she refused to listen to what I had to say and I let the lady walk out of the store with the stolen accessories.
