Question: Has this ever happened to anyone else visiting Japan or any foreign country for that matter. My boss told me on the flight back that this is fairly common practice. BTW: I make no moral judgment.
A company I worked for had a couple of Mexican plants. The one I went to had a couple of working girls employed in the office staff, for the management enjoyment. Seemed to be common practice in the bigger plants, or so I was told. I was impressed by how well dressed the women were, in the office. The plant woman were nothing special but the office looked like a nightclub.
Another plant was so corrupt that they fired the whole management group for running a scheme of billing phony receiving invoices. I think that had everyone from the dock to senior management was making money. Mexico is a interesting place for business.
common practice with older generation in Japan to have women entertain the men for business dinner. these are not escorts from NA standard, no sex involve just dinner entertainment. business dinner does not include spouses. just different culture. include lots of drinking as well. i cannot imagine getting drunk at a business dinner in North America.
Lying to get what you want (especially in the short) is not uncommon. In some societies it's expected. Lying about yourself isn't limited to men looking for sex from a woman, but to women wanting sex to get sex or into a mans wallet.

Part of it was knowing that women were so used to men taking anything as small as a smile as meaning she was DTF that they were sick of it, so when they tried to drop hints I assumed I was wrong.
Had to have friends of mine once tell a girl that she was going about it all wrong with me because she kept putting herself in situations where I could "take advantage of her" and that she would be much better off just asking me into her bed. (That worked.)
