If so, how long did it take to get over it? What did you do during your crisis?
I never thought I would feel this old and confused.

Most of us figured we would be gone by now so we never planned for it.

There's a lot of helpful books on the subject. A big part of it manifests itself as unhappiness at work because all the hours spent there may be meaningless (except you need the money to live on).

SP'ing has always helped....much better than the pony tail and the Porsche.

Nope

Think of it as vitamins. You take them but never are sure if you need them.

I am currently having a later life crisis about my midlife crisis.

There are days when you wake up and realize you are getting older, and that maybe the things you use to do are not longer as interesting, or you are no longer able, or would no longer fit in.

My suggestion is go bang an early 20s SP and feel better soon :)

midlife is age 35 for men, right? in 2009, most Canadian men only have a life expectancy of 71 years.

Ah but as you get real old you can wear diapers again. See you can still do things like you used to

The solution to one's problems is not always banging an SP. Sometimes, that might serve to make you feel worse.

With me, I recently changed jobs and I'm getting more into the swing of this new job and feeling much better.

With my last job, looking back, I was just a mouse on a wheel in a lot of ways. Working for a massive corporation of 40,000 is not good for the soul. Corporate plans, Career Development Plans, Quality Management Systems, CorporateEthics Policies, Diversity Awareness were all demoralizing in so many ways. Frankly, a huge part of the problem was that the guy who led our group was socially retarded. He had / has no idea how to relate to people other than about work. Although he's a decent enough guy, he just figured that work was work. In 10 years he never invited a single one of us out for lunch, never planned an after work get together, never hosted a party at his house, never did a thing to build any office moral, never address moral when it was at its lowest.

The guy I'm working for now is the exact opposite and I now realize how much of stick in the mud my last boss was.

Did your former employer have a "no hugging" policy?

Query: What is worse than spending 6 hours on an airplane?
Answer: Spending 6 hours on an airplane seated next to your boss:eek: .

I always took "mid-life" and "middle aged" to mean the mid-point of adulthood. By that definition your mid-life crisis should hit around 45.

Mine did :)

They had so many policies I gave up keeping track of them, or caring for that matter. Anyone with a brain knows that the policies they do have are selectively used from time to time to get rid of someone.
