So lots of employers are having issues getting people back the office.

I just got rid of the office and saved the expenses. It is cheaper to supply home offices then to run a full office space. But that can work for my industry. Can’t work for all others.

My SIL was able to renegotiate her contract to a 2 home/3 office work week.

What is your employer doing? Are you going back to the office? Fighting going back? Doing a split between home and office?

It all depends on your employer and the nature of your work. If your work can be done completely online, then it shouldn't be an issue.
However, with that said... there can be some CRA implications if the worker leaves Canada and works abroad for more than 6 months continuously (I have had to let 3 Full-Time staff go as they refused to come back to Canada after 6months)

In my line of work its a mix bag. I have clients that I must meet face to face and the rest of the time I can work from home or anywhere in the world. Outside seeing some clients and the occasional office visit to go over high level accounts/numbers.. I'm generally at my home office. But miss the social aspects of after work drinks and playing the SP field.

We currently are in a odd place... some are able to renegotiate to be able to work from home or do a hybrid model and some are able to quit and force the current employer to comply to their asks or find alternative '100% Remote' roles.

My employer is encouraging people to come back, but also leaving it flexible to specific teams and their managers.
There seems to be a mix - some people are back full time, a good number are back 2-3 days a week, some are completely remote except for special occasions.

Seems to be working out.

Not sure saying LOTS of employers are having issues. I'm sure there are certainly SOME that refuse to evolve to meet changing market and industry needs and are having issues as a result, but I recently read in a FORBES article that while only 5% of companies surveyed have a Zero On-Site Attendance Policy, about 88% of companies surveyed are currently using incentives to entice employees back with positive results, but in parallel, 77% of companies surveyed have adopted a hybrid model as well. To bridge the delta between at-home and in-office environments, a large percentage are also making changes to their physical office environments to make onsite working a better overall employee experience.

Truth is that while there are some industries where work-from-home just doesn't work (retail and manufacturing), for most other businesses there is really no excuse not to adopt a hybrid model. Not only are there benefits for the employees, there are also measurable benefits for the company itself.

The world has changed, most companies are adapting. You can't always put the genie back in the bottle once he's out.

Hopefully the guy who is always boasting of his stock market and sexual exploits doesn't come back to the office. LOL!
