Have Pot Holes Damaged Your Car?

I hit a nasty pothole on the 401 the actually broke my left front wheel. The tire went flat instantly at 120 km/h. Had I not had both hand on the wheel at "9 & 3" I may have ended up off the road. The damage was not limited to wheel and tire. It also bent the lower control arm. That particular section of highway was under construction at the time.
Long story short, I contacted the MTO and was eventually compensated for the damage which was in the range of $1500.

Back in a day when I had a Jeep I didn't know what a word Pot Hole means. After when I switched to a regular car I learned the hard way. Lots of pot holes around the city. I think 407 is the only highway that is pot hole free.
Coming home at night with a light snow I nailed a substantial pothole.
I could feel the hit through the entire body.
No immediately apparent damage.
Checked it out the next morning all looked OK.
Did end up needing an alignment. Mechanic said everything else including the tires was OK.
He did regale me with some stories of vehicles that weren't as fortunate.
