I'm planning a Havana Cuba trip this month (April 2011). Would love to team up with other fellow terbites if possible. Maybe share some good times, memories and car rental expense. :) PM me here. I've been there once and had a great time.

I haven't posted much, but I wanted to chime in and say some great things about Cuba. It's one of the best countries in the world for meeting women. They will usually ask for a tip, usually around the 40-100 dollar range but it's well worth it. Far cheaper than anything in Toronto.

The only "problem" with CUba is the 'vacation" side of things is usually kind of dull. THe food is usually pretty bad and the alcohol is usually watered down. My recommendation is Sol Luna y Mares. One of the few places in Cuba with decent food.

I have been to Havana, Varadero and GUardalavaca/Holguin. In my opinion, Holguin was by far the best. Havana just has relatively less friendly people It is still poor so people are friendlier than North America, but not like Holguin. It is super friendly, loaded with beautiful women and less costly all around since it's far from Havana. Havana is kind of like the "New York" of Cuba. Very touristy, and overpriced.

Go Holguin my friend. That's the ticket. Stay a tSol Luna y Mares. Friendly European tourists and if that fails, take a bus to Holguin city and meet the extremely friendly locals.

Holguin city is quite far from the resorts. I would have liked to spend a night there but couln't figure out how other than to take an expensive taxi ride. The best time I ever had in Cuba was at Santa Maria del Mar close to Havana. I had more interaction with locals there than anyplace else. A tourist bus takes you to Havana for a buck or maybe even free. A taxi will cost about 20. but always ask how much before you get in.
