Hamilton's MP vs The City

It was reported not too long ago in the Spec, that city was suprised to discovered that there were many body rub parlours in the city...this is about over a year & a half after the fact...and put a stop on the matter.

I was in city hall last week and overheard a meeting with the city's licensing board and Hamilton Police. It seems like they are taking names and putting together a task force to hit all MP in the city. The one thing that made damn near choke on my pop, was the fact the police are pitching this as means for Hell's Angels and other organized crime elements to rasie funds.

Sure there may be one or two that have connections, but ALL of them??? Not bloody likely! I mean The Sherman one has been around forever. Some of the other ones I have seen, Angel's wouldn't want anything to do with it. But for the cops to justify things like this is amusing in the least.

Future stings

Actually, I kind of thought that the skies would have already fallen by now. I guess I shouldn't be surprised though. This city's council takes five times the normal length of time to decide on anything. Collins, Merulla and Horvath ... you've got to be kidding me. These are the best people we can find to decide what's being done with our taxes? Boy, we suck!

At any rate, after the Spec article (which also sucked), I thought we'd see a little LE blitz. If what Trelew says is right, I guess we should be a little concerned. Still, if the police think that the majority of the places in Hamilton are biker owned, then they are sadly misinformed. But there are a few.

Otherwise, I would say that the safe havens are the places that have been around a few years (QS & KS for example) that have the proper license. You should definitely avoid any place that has the word "Aromatherapy" on the door. I think those places are on their way out. Good luck to all!

Apparently the city was responding to a complaint from the QS, Susposedly the owner went and complained about the others operating without a license and brought the whole issue to the forefront.

This is just speculation on my part.........If you don't want to do your job, but want the job done, let someone else do it....Thus I would bet that politics being what it is and the specs desire for a story make for a bad time for the MP's in this town for a while. All a politician has to do is drop a hint to a reporter that the city is over run with MP's that have no license and the spec will carry a story and the places will possibly shut down or the cops get involved and attempt to make headlines with the biker thing and prostitution connection and thus the places are closed, the politicians job is done and the owners don't know who is really to blame and he gets re-elected.

Also the cops will jump on a bandwagon and we already know that they will lie to the public if it is in their best interest.....(as per the spec story recently) so do we really believe them when they say that the places are all run by the bikers?

Just some food for thought and not any more than that.

what dogman says makes logical sense. And as said the cops will do their job if try and shut places down if the politicos make noise. Do you really think the cops care about MPs I doubt it. I bet they would rather be doing other stuff. Except Burlington cops, MP busting is a big step up now that Burlington city streets are virtually free or Random Skateboard crimes Anyway, the cops have a budget and they aren't gonna waste too many resources going after MPs. Im sure them and the Politicos are well aware they are never going to get rid of the problem. Solution? go after the easy targets. The ones with no legal recourse if they are shut down. I.E. the unlicenced Aromatherapy joints. Easy targets, and even if the cops bungled the Bawdy House stuff some how (I don't know what those guys have to catch going on, it may be a bit harder than we all think) they places still go away on business licence by-law grounds.

I for one wouldn't mind seeing some of Hamilton's new additions go away. They suck and don't bring any new choices or fun to the Hamilton game. What we need is a good Asian parlour. All they do is attract attention to the places that have peacefully co-existed with their NIMBY neighbours for years.

Actually what has mad the cops headache even worse is that there is at least 12 MP that actually HAVE a business licence from the city. The cops can't really start hitting on these MP that are actually legitmate businesses with licences from the city. The thing is the cops have to PROVE that there is a beehive of criminal activity in business and that it is a threat to community at large.

I don't know about you guys, but most MP that I have been in are very low key and discreet. No one really in this business really wants to be in the limelight. I think the cops used the bikers as rumourmongering and proproganda to fire up the community and get all NIMBY.

Just one note about that SPec article. The two main points that it was bringing home to the public was:

1 - The City allowed the business licences to go through for these MP, and have been around for over a year

2 - legitimate armotherapist/masseuses hate getting painted with the same brush as body rub parlours

Aromatherapy

The license issue is very confusing. From what I understand, there are only a couple of actual "body rub" licenses allocated for the city. That's why there's been such a proliferation of these "aromatherapy" locations spring up in the past year or so. That in iteself is essentially the loophole as far as I get it. Basically, these places are performing erotic body rubs under the guise of alternative health care. Unfortunately they're shooting themselves in the foot with the extended hours, out-in-the-open locations and gawdy neon open signs. If they just remained a little more low key, this probably wouldn't have been much of an issue. But, as has been mentioned, one well placed call to someone with some pull around town and all hell breaks loose. And let's not forget that the police are playing the political game with this situation as well. If they leak through the media that these places have close ties to the bikers, they'll not only stir the emotions of a naive public, but they'll also raise the volume on a call for more police funding to help crack down on these houses of ill repute. In the end, it's always about the money $$$$$$

Hell, the licenses were so freely given in the first place because it meant easy cash in the city coffers.

BTW ... I too feel that all of these new places have put a crimp in the industry here in town. Give me the good old days of three options. Better girls, better service, better discretion.

Alan Greenspan is a very successful lawyer who helped an MP in Niagara Falls recently. The city was fined an amount over $60,000 for harrassing the MP.

The aromatherapy places are run mostly by European Jews. I don't think any of the local MPshave ties to bikers or organized crime.

I think the biker influence will probably be felt more this summer. Especially on the streets, where they can controll the ladies with the drugs. I have notice a more discreet presence out where the girls work and frequent.

If there is any influence in the escort and MP area it will be even more discreet, managing from afar and supplying girls.
