I can't think of a more deserving group - The Round Mound of Rebound, The Human Highlight Film and an original Bad Boy imducted today to the basketball Hall of Fame.

Not to be ignored Geno Auriemma, Sandro Gamba and David Gavitt joins the greats in the hall.

I had a quick flash of what it would have been like to have 'Nique on the original Dream Team instead of that piece of driftwood Laettner. A Glide, Magic, MJ and 'Nique fast break attack.wow.

Three of my favourites. Dumars I think was so underrated. He had such a great all around game. The Bad Boys were my favourite team. Funny though, Dumars makes such a great GM while Isaiah ... (won't even go there)

I saw a Bio on Barkley and was amazed on how great he was .. In a game
seven against the Spurs he collected 40 plus points and 25 rebounds ... He
was on a mission to win the Championship ... Till Jordon came along and spoiled the party in the finals ... Funny how Jordan prevented a lot of superstars from getting their Ring... Shit Houston won only when Jordan took
a couple of years off and Houston Star Centre got his two rings..
40 and 25 from a "round" guy who's 6' 5'' !!! Yup, one of the best performances ever.

I still cant believe DM wasnt picked as 1 of the 50 greatest players.

Didnt realize it til i saw Ice Cub in 1 of them pregame things they had few years ago saying Pippen shouldnt have been picked. I'd have to say after consideration i agree.
Although Pippen was a good player, i dont think he was a very good leader. As shown when the year after Jordan retired and 1 time they drew up a game winning shot for kukoc and he refused to go into the game cuz it wasnt him. I was soo disappointed in him and lost a lot of respect for him that night.
I also dont think he would've be able to carry a team, star on team, by himself. I think hes best fit to be a great sidekick to a good player but as far as 50 greatest players, i dont think hes better or should get picked before the "human highligh reel".

ya, guess he also got jacked by not getting picked to be on the dream team. But laettner was a F/C, vs DM whos a guard which the team had plenty of already. That would've been a touch choice to replace him with another guard.

Agreed Milhouse - I always said Pippen had no business being on that list. What the hell did he do in Portland after he left Chicago?

For me -Pippen as one of the fifty greatest is as big of a joke as Laettner being on a Dream Team.

Actually Laettner at 6'11" was listed as a forward and never played the paint in those Olympic games - he was in center as a defender. They had the Admiral and Ewing. If you want a true center -where was Shaq? But 'Nique is listed as a guard/forward at 6'7" -so if they were trying to fill a forward spot -why not DW?
I know, I know -coach K was an assistant they they needed to rep their college boy -but IMHO there were many more deserving.

Anyone in doubt about Dominique's credentials to join the top 50 list, just watch the 4th quarter of game 7 of the 1988 eastern conference semis where 'nique and bird go mano-a-mano.

Actually...(my two cents...)

...I would agree that Pippen has no business being on the 50 Greatest list (but then again, neither does Bill Walton)....but..

...I'd also say Joe Dumars has no business in the Hall of Fame. Great player, great guy, GREAT GM...but I can name a dozen other players easily who had better careers than Joe D who are not in.

I guess if you combine in the GM stuff he gets a boost...but isn't he going in as a player??

I have given this very point thought...

...many times.

There are a LOT of great players who never got a ring because they unfortuately shred the span of their careers with Jordan...

Barkley
Malone
Stockton
Ewing

Each was a regular playoff vistor...and each got sent home almost every year by Jordan.

Add Reggie Miller to the list.

MLAM...I'd also say Joe Dumars has no business in the Hall of Fame. [/QUOTE said:
Statistically, it is obvious to say that Joe D is quite underwhelming in terms of HOF consideration. I think what cements his induction is having the hardware (All-stars, Finals MVP, 2 rings) and being considered the only person to ever really stop MJ. Don't forget that MJ concedes that Dumars was the best defender against him and we all know MJ doesn't easily dish out the compliments particularly to Pistons.

Speaking of stats, Wilkins may deserve his nomination on numbers but it's also noteworthy that the Human Highlight Reel was always painted as selfish and a ball hog. Is that reputation worthy of a HOFer?

And Jordan wasn't selfish and a ball-hog? What about Isiah? Barkley? Wilt?

If selfish and ball-hog prevents you from making the HOF, then guys like AI and Kobe have no chance.
