Above is a picture of my car engine. On the bottom lower left part of the picture theres a white jug with a yellow cap.To the right of that there is a small blue lid, and then right beside that, there is a black belt. Tonight the belt started to fray or somethings stuck on it because its making a slapping engine everytime it runs the loop.

Anybody here know what that belt is? Any idea how much it would cost to fix it?

Thanks for your help!

it's the serpentine belt .It drives the engine accessories, alternator, water pump, air conditioner,
power steering etc. belts vary in price , but a wild guess would be $70 for the belt and an hours labour. Youre in the $150 to $200 range to have it replaced

Anywhere there's a Strip Joint
That's your main belt that turns the waterpump etc. I wouldn't be driving it too much if it's started to fray.

Probably about $100+ for the belt, plus another $50-100 for labour.

A serpentine belt - replacement cost depends can be as little as $30 (if you can DYI) or ten times that amount (if a lot of labour is required) but your car won't work too well without it.

That looks like it will be as much fun to change that belt as it did on my old Ford Focus. 1" wide belt and the space between the frame and the pulley was only 3/4". So not only did were you trying to get the belt around the pulleys you also had to curl the belt around the frame. Add to that when you pulled the tension wheel back you convienently blocked the access to the area.

I got her done, but the air was a little bluer by the end. :)

This poor dude has been outside Saturn showrooms every sat for last 8 years. Claims his brand new Saturn broke, but they never fixed it. Wants compensation, but Saturn does not meet the figure......And so he sits...

Should have bought a domestic, they NEVER break down
Have to agree.
Never had a Big 3 serpentine belt fail and only replaced two so far out of a dozen or so of my vehicles equipped with them usually at around 75,000 miles....;)
They last and last!
