Hey Ladies,

One of the public health doctor's that I have a good repor with in KW gave me this number for reporting violence in the business. She said it is friendly to working girls and is anonymous. Haven't had the need to use it myself so can't vouche for how it works but here it is for those in need:

GUARDIAN LINE

519-650-8558

*This is a anonymous reporting line for violence, sexual abuse, or missing persons that does not subscribe to call display or *69.

Stay safe ladies!

Police launch tip line for sex trade workers

There are often a variety of reasons why victims of abuse or violence don't report incidents to police. Local police aim to break down barriers for local sex trade workers who fall victim to abuse or violence, and who otherwise may not report an incident.

"We have a responsibility for the safety of everyone in the community," said Olaf Heinzel, public affairs co-ordinator with Waterloo Regional Police.

Project Guardian was announced this week by regional police. Now available to sex trade workers in Waterloo Region is a tip line meant to encourage an increase in the number of violent or abusive incidents reported.

"Clearly we can't be of much help...if it's not reported to us," said the public affairs co-ordinator.

People who call the tip line can choose to leave contact information or remain anonymous. The line does not subscribe to caller identification, Heinzel added.

"We can guarantee their anonymity."

Project Guardian is a proactive effort and aims to help victims or those who are at risk. The line is not intended for those who need immediate help, said Heinzel, who added that 911 should be used for emergencies.

The police service's Major Case Unit will monitor the tip line and will respond to all messages.

Officers will hand out Project Guardian information through direct contact with those who may need it, and information will also be available at various support centres.

Heinzel also reminded that any piece of information, whether or not a person thinks it's a small detail, can assist investigators.

The toll-free tip line number is 519-650-8558.
