I watched Canada's Govenor General on Television last night, and noticed her picture in the paper this morning. I do not know if she is a babe, but she is definitely a fine looking women. I think Canda can claim the finest looking head of state in the world. (yeah, I know that it technically is the old hag in England)

And I am a rabid republican - no, not the US kind, the anti-monarchist kind.

The last few GG's have been more outspoken and giving a few political views instead of just being handshaking diplomats and hosts.
If that's going to be the new role, we should abolish it or make it an elected office. At least the Queen knows her place.

Both - cry and laugh. It is all a part of our not really knowing our identity as a nation.

Canada is a constitutional monarchy, with HRH ER as Head of State. Canada achieved independence from the UK Parliament in 1867 for matters of internal policy. Canada was removed from influence of the UK Parliament in the 30's, and Canadians then lost the right to appeal to the UK House of Lords.

Our government and state are separate. Our goverment is independent. Our Head of State is HRH, Queen Elizabeth II. Queen of Canada.

So does this make Canadians British Citizens?
