Imagine if Kerry's camp called the existence of OBL's threats "a gift".

http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/247753p-212149c.html

"We want people to think 'terrorism' for the last four days," said a Bush-Cheney campaign official. "And anything that raises the issue in people's minds is good for us."

A senior GOP strategist added, "anything that makes people nervous about their personal safety helps Bush."

He called it "a little gift," saying it helps the President but doesn't guarantee his reelection.

Republicans are scum.

This is where i wish the democrats had some balls. Release an ad showing snippets of Bin Laden's new tape, and follow that up with Bush saying he's not concerned about him.

I think you're missing the point. If John Kerry could actually tell people what he'd do to improve national security then people wouldn't automatically think of Bush when they think of security...

If true - and I take the news with a grain of salt - this is unquestionably repulsive. It amounts to saying "Thank God Osama is still at large so he can help us will the election."

I'm surprised the Dems haven't done an ad on this super Dubya Flip-Flop:

Dubya showed his "resolute resolve" by making the following curious statements,

"The most important thing is for us to find Osama bin Laden. It is our number one priority and we will not rest until we find him."
- George W. Bush, 9/13/01

"I don't know where bin Laden is. I have no idea and really don't care. It's not that important. It's not our priority."
- George W. Bush, Brady Briefing Room, 3/13/02

"Gosh, I don't think I ever said I'm not worried about Osama bin Laden. That's kind of one of those exaggerations."
- George W. Bush, Live during the Presidential Debate 10/13/04

Dubya seems to have a habbit of flip-flopping in the 13th day of the month.

Not so. Since this is a Super Flip-Flop on the part of Bush the Dems have all the right in the world to call Dubya on it irregardless.

Actually, they did release such an ad. They may have left out the 9/13/01 quote, but as soon as he lied in the debate, they had one out within a day or 2. We just don't see them.

No, the point is that the Republicans are giddy over Bin Laden still being out there releasing tapes. Still ABLE to be out there releasing tapes.

Imagine 40 soldiers being massacred Monday in Iraq, and the Kerry campaign calling it "a little gift".

Republicans are scum.
This post is so full of "anonyus sources" and "senior official" crap it stinks. Who are hose "anonymus" and "senior" people??
Probably some editor that needed a headline for his evening edition.
IMHO this is a "neutral impact story". It doesn't help anybody. Unless you don't know who OBL is or what happened on 9-11.

Ickabod a little advise to you. Just because it is printed, doesn't make it true.

For some reason, Colin Powell's presentation to the UN just popped into my head.
