Google Wind Map - future tool for sailors?

The wind map is a moving visualization of wind in the US:

(Note: moving image only works in modern browsers and seems to work best in Chrome)

If they could do the same for ocean areas, have it in real time, and overlay it on Google Earth, that would be a super tool for sailors!

There is oversea wind data available right now (http://www.stormsurfing.com/cgi/display_alt.cgi?a=satla_slp), I wonder if they can integrate it? The Google map version of wind seems more visually intuitive.
