I am going on vacation in like a month or so, Wanted to get a MP3 player, I dont want to use my blackberry for that because I am sure it will drain my battery faster, I have a Bold 8900.

How many gigs should I get? and where is a good place to download MP3's? I usually just go on youtube to listen to songs/videos.

I never had an Mp3 player so sorry thats why I have no clue. I never downloaded mp3s before either lol.

I say go ipod. I would suggest a nano, 8Gb would be sufficient. Easy to use, and small.

A month you say........

Bose surround sound and 300gb catalogue accessed in my bedroom. ;)

Nah, forget it. A month just wouldn't be long enough.

Get an iPod -- you won't regret it.

I'm sure you can grab MP3's from iTunes or from friends.

I am one of the people that swore "anything but ipod". And I went out and got an 8gb iriver S10. It had alot more in it compared to the 1st generation Nano. Problem is, if you ever want to hook your MP3 player up to any speaker dock, then it has to be ipod, at least 98% of the market.

I got a Sansa with an FM radio for my trip to Jamaica. Gave me the option of listening to pre-recorded music or a local reggae station. It's great around home to for the same reason. I can always switch on a local station for music or the news.

Have a wonderful vacation!

You might want to consider getting a second battery for your 8900 - then you don't need to learn/carry a second device (well, I guess you would have to carry the battery and charger). A spare phone battery is tiny and is useful for the 8900 even when you are back from vacation.

Alternatively, get a cheap, near-disposable MP3 player that takes AAA batteries. They all sound pretty much the same. Sansa makes some, or check out Walmart.

I say iPod, but do yourself a huge favour and get better earphones. A friend bought noise canceling BOSE headphones for a flight to Australia and swears that it was worth it.

No matter which mp3 player you pick, ditch the ear buds that come with it and buy decent headphones.

Another reason why I like the Sansa Clip, FM radio option and voice recording.
Xgf had fun with that
Main reason, it's light (probably the lightest), it's small and it does its job of playing music - love the clip on it.

Yup. Mine has about 4 days of tunes on it, and a few pics.

My kid has an 80GB... I think it holds every song ever played, plus every movie, plus every book, plus some photos. He travels all over the world though so updating songs is a pain. Otherwise I'd say it's too big, and pricey.

Units sold doesn't necessarily mean it's a great product.
That would be like saying McDonald's is good because of the "billions served"...the fuck? lol

Oh and iTunes on a PC, is shit.
My xgf has it on her computer and it's garbage, it's slows things down, it rapes her computer.
Apple knows how to package a product beautifully and sell it.
Not to say I wouldn't own one, I like the iTouch, but for the money and what you're getting, not worth it.
