My sister's kid was saying how he wanted to fly a kite. Thinking I remembered the fun I had with my dad and friends doing the same thing when I was like 7 or 8 I offered to take the little wanker out and give it a try. We did it last Saturday.

Fuck, was it ever boring!!!

What was I thinking? I guess things change.

I think this is where we say we change as adults. I think how did I stand going cross country skiing as a child for 4 to 5 hours at a time or getting drenched in the snow and how now I dread winter and cannot wait to get back home inside where it is warm. Plus to top that off I came from up North where it is colder than here.

I remember spending hours on the swing in the backyard or at the park as a little kid too, now about 2 minutes on one makes me want to puke. Hell, the first couple times I took my daughter to the park and just pushed her in the baby swing it made me queasy!

Every day all summer I saw people flying kites on the beach, they were all adults using giant hi tech designs that cost a fortune.
I've never seen a kid fly one in the last 30 years.

I liked making kites but the fun was short lived when I was flying them.
I even went so far as to buy a nice big kite. Fun lasted one hour and never used it again. When I was a child, kites were popular or something because most corner stores used to sell them.

I still find those large two handed kites kind of cool. You can do loops and stuff. I said kind of cool, it's not really that cool. LOL If my niece wants to fly one, then I'll act like it's the coolest thing in the entire world.
