I would like to try Gmail. I have not been offered an account though. I know sometime ago people here were giving them away. Does any one have account(s) they are not using and how do I sign up? Please post here or PM me. Thanks.

P.S. I'm wondering if this my best option. Seems that the name I want to use is taken on Yahoo. I don't like hotmail because way to much spam etc. I tried a google search for free e-mail services but did not like the various options I saw there. Any suggestions, ideas etc?

Thanks in Advance. NiteHwk

I also have gmail invitations if anyone wants to send me an address.
There is a minimum 6 character limit so I couldn't get the name I initially wanted.
Gmail bumped my capacity up to 2278 MB which is huge.
It works great, I'm not sure how the features compare to other large volume ones like yahoo.

here, there and everywhere!
what's so special about gmail?

From time to time I see people talking about gmail and how it's hard to get, you need an invitation etc. What makes it so special? Why all the cloak and dagger stuff to get one?

I guess Google wanted to start up and test slowly, with their name they would have had a flood of people wanting an account right off the bat.
The testing and fine-tuning has been going on for years, now it just seems like they want it to be difficult to get to make it exclusive simply for marketing purposes.

AOL offers 2GB of free email. Go to www.aim.com and click on "mail" at the top. It's not as good as gmail, but it's still a lot of storage.

I really didn't like Gmail. I decided just to stick with my myway account, which seems better than yahoo and several others that I've tried out.

www.myway.com

Plus it has a lot of cool features for your personal page. The news links all in one place is worth setting up an account.
