Is there a form of rubber gloves I can get. Cheap or housewear like for handling computer parts instead of using anti-static wrist straps which can be annoying cause you have to make sure they're clipped on something all the time.

No. I rarely use anti-static devices and haven't had any trouble, but the only good way to deal with static is grounding.

what are Nitrile gloves. - where do you get these...
Nitrile is artificial rubber. They are the heavy duty blue "rubber" gloves you see mechanics wear. Try Canadian Tire.

gloves are not needed.............bond yourself to the units frame while the grounded power cord is still installed...........even a ground strap will not do squat if the chassis is not bonded
