A source told VICE World News Mike Stafford was fired after using a slur against Pakistani people while talking to coworkers online.

Poor judgement on his part. But he does have a great set of pipes, and that used to be a requirement in his industry.
A business owner buddy contacted AM640 to purchase advertising time. He wanted Stafford to read the spot. They gave
him a quote, but said that Supriya would be no-charge. Buddy said no way he was having that buzzsaw voiced Supriya read

We're at the point now where any use is offensive. The kids who grew up under zero tolerance policies now expect that's how the world works. Don't make me think about nuance or ask me to use judgment. If x word is said then I'm offended and you must be ostracized. Tolerance indeed

Which is clearly evident in today's cancel culture.

Asked if he was aware the term he used is a slur, he said, “Yes. Ford and I grew up in the same era, I only meant to exchange what he was thinking. Which is why it was in quotes.”

Asked if he thought about how the term might impact racialized employees in the channel, Stafford said, “No. I honestly thought I was treating the premier with disgust. His pathetic border argument.”

It's not like he dressed up in blackface more times than he can remember.

I hope their ratings tank and Mike lands a better gig somewhere else.

It's a racial slur against people of Pakistani origin. When I was a kid it was often used and it was NEVER in a positive light. The same way Limey was used against Brits, Wops against Italians, Spics against Hispanics.

Radio host Mike Stafford has left Global News after he used the word “P*ki” last week in Microsoft Teams, a workspace chat platform.

Posting it online is bad enough, but he posted it using an office chat app. Lots of people forget that office e-mail, chat apps, web browsing, phone calls, etc are constantly being monitored.
