Ryder Hesjedal went for it and Dudley Doright ran up beside him to cheer him on!
Stage 19 from Lugano to the Schammerhorn, Hesjedal broke away on a steep climb with 8k remaining. If no one had broke with him he could have coasted to a stage victory. Unfortunately Fabio Aru, who had suffered through a number of stages losing time, broke with him staying far enough behind to give him a false sense of security. With 4k remaining he turned on the jets and took the stage with a 28 seconds gap. Contador is still the leader, Aru has shaved over a minute off his lead and Hesjedal moves up to 7th place.
Considering the health problems he endured after 2012 Maglia Rosa, it's good to see him back in the game. If he stays fit, there could be another Giro victory in his future. He has to do it soon, Aru is only 23.
Conspicuous by his absence is 2010 Giro and 2014 Tour winner Vinnie Nibali.
But I don't understand Italy's obsession with KISS, this is what they played when Aru stepped on to the podium:
