Girls working with colds

This never ceases to amaze me. I had an experience last year where an SP came over with a pretty nasty cold. It was an agency girl so she wouldn't have had the chance to notify me beforehand. In other words I don't blame her, but I wasn't too happy to be spending money to catch somebody's cold. Judging from a thread I started on another board, it appears that this isn't very uncommon. In my situation, the girl was very sweet about it but given how close we were going to be for the night, there was just no way that I wasn't going to get sick. Has this happened to others here? And how often has this happened to you? It bothers me that I have to think twice about whether or not I can afford to get sick before I call an SP.

Not to sound rude or make it seem like it is ok or anything but don't you think the same thing happens to us?

I can't even count the amount of colds and such that I caught when I first started working in the biz with an agency and didn't know that the no kissing rule was an option for me.

It took a nasty case of strep throat a little over 4 yrs ago to implement that rule, and people wonder why we don't kiss.
I will never go through that again.

The big problem is that colds and such can be passed before the person appears to have any symptoms or knows they have anything themselves, how do you stop that? You don't.
It is just like STD's, you take all the precautions you can and hope for the best.

If a cold is going around and your immune system is susceptable to it you are likely going to catch it one way or another anyway.

Gosh yes, I certainly understand that. Anyone who's suffering from a cold (or for that matter, anything that is contageous) and has the gall to call and SP over should be put on some sort of unofficial blacklist. Talk about unimaginably selfish behaviour.

It's true that colds are contageous before symptoms appear, but that wasn't what I was talking about. Rather, my particular situation involved a girl coming to my room and coughing her head off for the hour. I've never felt good about turning someone away and in this case, the first time she coughed was after she had called-in to say that everything was alright. She was really sweet about everything but at the same time, there was no way she couldn't have known that she would be giving her cold to any client she was going to be seeing. Having said that, I actually tipped her at the end of the night because ultimately she was just such a great girl (not even talking about anything sexual). I'm certain that she wouldn't have seen any clients if she hadn't really needed the money around that time.

One thing that I had forgotten to address. You wrote:

This really is true. At the same time, if you are in an office with sick co-workers you may or may not catch it. If you spend an hour getting very intimate with a sick girl, you are virtually certain to catch it. Have you yourself gone to sessions when you where sick? I'm not asking you to be judgmental or patronizing in any way, I'm only curious to know how commonplace this is. I've read many of your posts on this board and I value your comments.

What if...

Just a quick question here...

What is a SP has Asthma... Or allergies... Or Chronic recurrent bhronchitis (NOT TRANSMITABLE AT ALL)...

These conditions may cause the SP to have symptoms which mimic a cold... What would you recommend in her case?

Now personally... I have taken 6 days of in a row this month due to the flu. I had pre-bookings which I re-aranged. I think hobbiests and SP's alike are responsible for good health. Personally I don't work when I have a cold... Or the flu. I am lucky enough to be able to take time off. Some are not as lucky.

Last year, I had a booking with one of my favorite Sp's, and was really looking forward to it. About an hour and a half before hand, I got a call from the agency explaining that the lady in question had a cold and would not be able to see me.

Sure, I was disappointed, but at least she was professional and thoughtful enough not to go on the call. It seems like common sense to me. When you're sick, you don't go into the office. Why should this be any different??

When you are sick and puking, sure.
But I don't believe for a second that most people call in sick to work when the have so much as a little cold.

And before anyone says anything, yes I know going into the office is different then going into the "hotel room".

True.

My point is that where the hobby is concerned, even a slight cold would be enough to warrant a cancellation, for obvious reasons. Btw.. In my case, the lady had a bout of the stomach flu.

T.O.
I just lie to myself by saying I'm staying home to protect my co-workers.

That's true guys... when you don't want to go you call in sick for the slightest twinge. When you want to be there you show up rain or cold! So take it as a compliment that the lady really really wants to be there with you.
Though I have to tell you I have allergies to certain scents, and sometimes I will start sneezing as soon as I walk in. The guy thinks I am sick and when you say it's just allergies they mention that I should have taken something for it. That is just frustrating. I wasn't sneezing till I walked in. Lesson to be learned ~ lighten up on the cologne!

WELL SAID KERRI

But try an Areosol allergie added in... That one makes me cough so hard I sound like I will choke to death..........

People just do not get it... There is a reason some places are scent free... To save the agony of allergies...
