Good afternoon, I have a question. How do I hide/get rid of my startup screen? I don't mean the windows splash screen. I mean the one that loads all your bios data etc. Also if I change if for one OS will it affect all my other OS's? I have a few rackmount cases. I pull out whatever OS I want to use that day. Only my vista is giving me this ugly/messy boot screen

any info?

Thanks

On my system, with an Asus motherboard, the splash screen is enabled when the long memory test is enabled. It can be turned off by entering the BIOS on boot, clicking the Boot menu and setting the "Quick Boot" item to "Enabled". Save and exit. Result: no long memory test, no splash screen and a quicker boot.

This may or may not be relevant for your system.

thanks I'll try the bios thing or at least have a look at it. Yeah the hardrive is removable. No not a rackmount server.

The messy bootscreen itself is on the drive. I went into the bios and changed a few settings. After I saved "f10" and restarted the machine. That screen was still present. It might be part of the os itself loading not the bios. How do I get into msconfig in vista. Did they hide the run command somewhere?

thanks

thanks, back to the drawing board. Why did Microsoft choose this route with the run command for Vista? So people don't mess up the OS? Will msconfig bring up all the old xp options? If this particular question was asked before, disregard
