Persons with herpes should abstain from sexual activity with uninfected partners when lesions or other symptoms of herpes are present. It is important to know that even if a person does not have any symptoms he or she can still infect sex partners. Sex partners of infected persons should be advised that they may become infected. Sex partners can seek testing to determine if they are infected with HSV. A positive HSV-2 blood test most likely indicates a genital herpes infection.

BTW he can still get it
I told him already having met this woman that he should cut his losses. Nice of her to be honest with him, but some baggage is just too much......seems to me SHE should know all about this, and further it seems she is just looking for some face and hoping she wont infect him.......

I agree, 1st extremely honest, respectful & mature of her to let him know up-front. Wonder how many other women/men practice this level of dignity & honesty. At minimum he should keep her as a friend, you never know how this is affecting her social life and she may need friends to help just get by in life.
As for, sexual contact, way to risky.

Second this is a quote from the above noted site, http://www.herpes.com/ and would probably apply to Canada as well.

"Oral herpes, an infection caused by the herpes simplex virus, is estimated to be present in 50 to 80 percent of the American adult population. 20 percent, over 50 million people, are infected with genital herpes"

OMG, that statistic scares the hell out of me. 50% infection rate of oral herpes. God help us all, this can get to be totally uncontrolable. Time for me to rethink this hobby.

Ever had a cold sore on your lip? Thats oral herpes

Listen... my mom is in her 60's and has only been with one man she gets cold sores several times a year. My dad? No cold sores. My little neices and nephews 7 and 9 years old they get cold sores... None of these people hobby and they have oral herpes. I have read that if you get the H1 it could help you avoid getting H2. The only guy I know who got the #2 was in Europe and barebacked an Australian chick who was travelling the world and banging guys without condoms at every stop.

I think your friendly neighbourhood SP/MPA would never put you at risk and in fact you may be in a better position with them thanks to TERB. A lot of my friends go to dark bars, make out with strangers, screw them in dark cars or apartments and never actually see where they are dipping their stick in or having for dinner.

My point..

Sorry forgot to state my point.... Quiting the hobby is not going to lessen your risk of getting H1 or H2. Just play it safe. If the thought of catching stuff is causing you a lot of stress abstaining from all sex Sp or not is an option.

Oral herpes can be spread to the genitals and vice versa from what I read on those links.

Even towels can spread it.

I wasn't aware that even people who have the virus but it's not in outbreak mode can still infect their partners.

So much for pussy slides at the MP eh.
