It's sickening that the oil companies blame the high prices on taxes and the price of oil.

When the world price of oil goes up, the gas prices immediately follow BUT when they drop, the gas prices kind of peter down slowly 0.1 cent at a time.

The oil execs will be the third against the wall when the revolution comes. Right after the lawyers and the insurance execs.

Dont' forget ...

We've also got MoneySpenders bratty next-door neighbour's kids to dispose of. And his neighbourhood priest.

Come to think of it, maybe we should just get rid of MoneySpender's neighbourhood. ;)

Long live the Spanish Inquisition.

Petro Canada vs Esso

The most profitable oil company in the world is Exxon-Mobil - Esso in Canada. The filthiest, sulphur-laced gas sold in Canada is Esso.
The biggest denier of global warming is Esso. This, per Greenpeace spokesperson on CBC radio this morning.

Carry on bitching about Petro Can, keep buying Esso!

There was once a guy here defending oil corporations saying that "competition betwen oil companies is stiff the high prices are due to taxes"--- yeah right.

Can someone explain to me why when the shit hits te fan in the Middle East Canadian oil companies raise the price immediately even when they have a 3-month supply of oil in stock that was bought at the price prior to the political turmoil? And why raise the price of oil if Canada gets it's oil from the artic and Alberta?

All that may be true, but to Esso's credit they were the first to lower gas to ¢49.9 in the SARS fightback. I read also that ¢5 per litre (which seems like a lot to me) was going to be donated to some charity.

So for taking a stance in trying to revive the Toronto economy just a little bit, I tip my hat to the folks at Esso and I thank them. And while I'm at it, thanks to Rogers for the $1 baseball game and Mirvish et al for the cheap theatre / dinner / hotel packages.
