Whats that game you play in the winter - where you piggyback on another guy's back and the point/goal of the game is to manage to push another piggyback rider off another guy's back!

That was the best game ever!

In elementary school, we could only play it in the winter time tho. With high levels of snow for cushioning. Ironically, we decided to play this instead, when they banned snowball fights then, during my elementary school days.

*wipes tear from his eye*

And then there was whipball! Where if you dropped the ball, you had to run and touch the wall, while the other guy tried to tag you before you reached the wall, by whipping the ball at your back and making contact with you (I know! Elementary school was brutal!)

Gosh, I loved how we played Dodgeball in the gym and we literally whipped a volleyball at the people on the opposite sides, andthe ear-shattering sound of the ball banging at against the wall of the gymnasium blasting in your ears all around you while girls were screaming and the ball was coming at us at brutal speed! All under the supervision of a teacher! lol

Oh yea - I remember that. We used to play it too, that was a riot. Guess they may be banning 'Mother May I' soon too. It might make some child feel bad if the answer is no. Or they could get a lawyer and just sue the other kid for discrimination.

Was it Red Rooster? I remember some game like that where you try to knock the other guy off balance.

I can ask my elementary school contacts off facebook - but I think we called it King of the Hill. Yeah, there's different names for it. But damn, it sure beats playing floor hockey or handball or skiprope!

British Bulldog was great.

In winter, King of the Hill. Control the top of the giant snowbank at the end of the parking lot. lots of fights there. Good stuff.

Too bad it was a boys game, 99% of the time! The girls always stuck with their own crowd and never joined in the games. I do remember the girls joining in our handball games tho - sometimes.

In primary school, we played this game we called "kill"

Baically, at recess, we had one of those pinky brown rubber balls that had no specific use whatsoever. It was about the size of a volleyball, but, it was kind of mushy and had a huge aerola like valve.

Anyway, the game was simple, whoever had the ball would run like hell and everyone would chase them, tackle them, and try to rip the ball out of their hands then start off yourself.

Kind of like solo rugby vs. the mob.

Great fun!

we called it red ass.. after you were caught three times.. you had to line up against the wall.. and everyone got a turn throwing the ball hit you on your ass... once one guy pulled his pants down to distract everyone... we still whipped the ball .. even harder... I went to a catholic school... and the girls played with the boys...
Kids today will grow up with bigger issues than we did... too bad... my kids will play these games and like it as i did . as i do....
who won the game today timmy? oh dad we all won.. there are no loosers.. it's about having fun.....( WTF??????????????)

We had a pretty good run of king of the hill, especially during the winter with an icy little hill. It got stopped though after one little nutbar started swinging his ice scates around by the laces. Damn teachers, we weren't allowed to even go on the hill for the rest of the year.

Its just like the kittens, puppies...the rough games are necessary for building and learning skills necessary for survival later on in life.

Like running from the police, or from serial killers. or from that 6'9, vein-bulging, steroid-popping giant of a boyfriend of the tall, leggy blonde you were hitting up and trying to get the phone number of....

Why do little puppies and kittens play rough? To escape predators and fight rivals....like giant boyfriends with bulging biceps, triceps, calves and wearing wife-beaters that barely stay in one piece over their massive shoulders and chest

Don't believe me? Just watch The Discovery Channel

Wow they were playing that 3 generations before mine as well?...cool :p

You knew you had fun at recess by seeing how many bloody noses there were when you went back in. It was what everybody did, wasn't something for just the tough guys, there wasn't a lot of other stuff to play with in winter. Hockey sticks were not allowed in the King of the Hill game. Good thing.

Did the really call it British Bulldog in England Lanc? Also, I assume you are talking about the "other" kind of hockey sticks, the kind that girls play with?

Fess up! You are just pretending to be a Brit and are really a gay communist Al Queda opperative.
