Ok, so I recently upgraded the cable at the old homestead and low and behold, you can watch old episodes, as well as what's new.

Who knew?

So I started watching "Game of Thrones"

Damn good show. Full of conflict, betrayal, evil pricks, clever imps, hacking and chopping and a good bit of sex thrown in to boot. Some actors you recognize, many you don't. (Hamish's dad from Brave Heart is in there.)

Without a doubt, Peter Dinklage steals the show as the clever dwarf Tyrion Lannister - pretty much the closest thing to a hero the show has.

I'm only up to season II, episode 4. I'm surprised how many central characters (or at least in Season I) get knocked off.

Robert Barathian (killed by a pig, love that)

Ned Stark

Khal Drogo

Discovered it by accident last year and now I'm hooked too. When they killed off the lead character near the end of season one, I knew this show was worth sticking with.

Tonight's season finale left so many storylines and characters going off into the unknown. Can't wait for next season.

The series is a decent representation of the books - plus lots more nudity.

My favorite character of course is...Tyrion Lannister. Peter Dinklage landed the role of a lifetime and f*ckin slam dunked it. He won an Emmy for it.

I'd highly recommend reading the books - an excellent example of multiple POV storytelling. Even if you don't like reading, you'll be a convert. The only problem is that once you're done, it's rough finding alternatives.

However, I'd stop at book 3 - book 4 & 5 are disasters and cannot match the awesomeness of books 1-3. They were meant to be written as 1 book, but somehow GRRM got distracted.

Her name is Arya. Yeah she's cool. Many people that have read the books bitch about the changes on the show. Idiots. The battle in ep 9 (Blackwater) kicked ass.

Actually in season 1 they followed the book almost exactly, including scenes and a lot of dialogue. An interesting story with lots of different plots intertwined.

The scenes in Littlefinger's brothel are always priceless.

Production values are excellent. Acting is also great and lots of action, violence and nudity. What more can you want.

I agree with others that Tyrion Lannister is one of the best characters on the show. Since I started watching I wanted to read the books, but I don't want to have the disappointment with the and the show not being true to the other. I have a feeling we'l see great things from Tyrion.

Yes, train, I'm with you on the goings on in Littlefinger's brothel. I laughed myself silly in the scene where a client was disatisfied and he grabs the nearest girl, cum still on her mouth, wipes it off and presents her to him. They lock lips. That was pure gold.

I also believe we'll see some great things from the young character Arya, as her character is linked to the bastard child of the dead king and rightful heir to the throne.

Would the bastard child of the dead king Robert have claim to the throne? After all, he is not legitimate. And legitimacy is a big thing in GOT (and was back in the day)

Or one of his brothers (well, only Stanis is still alive after the gay brother Renly was killed by the demon thing that Stanis' sorcoress girl friend gave birth to)?

Obvious parallels to Britain. South = England, North = Scotland, Narrow Sea = English Channel

Any male born child of the king, whether legitimate or bastard child, would have claim to the throne. He is the first and closest blood line to the king.

I'm in exactly the same boat. It was a fluke when I discovered it but now I'm completely hooked. I heard someone describe it as The Lord of the Rings meets the Sopranos. I just finished watching the last episode from season2 and am now stuck waiting almost a year for season 3.

I've watched both seasons as well as read the first 3 books in the series. Really love the portrayal of Tyrion as well. There's a lot of great and hilarious dialogue between him and Cersei and Varys that they left out of the HBO series though.

I always wanted to cock-punch Cersei's (Lena Headey) pussy...surprised as how much nudity has been thrown around this show but haven't seen a glimpse of her nipples or clit.

All the female nudity seems to be the lesser characters. (Except for the "Mother of Dragons" Targarian. Interesting how she doesn't burn (whereas her good for nothing brother did.)

I'm sure hoping that the snivelling psychopath - King Joffry gets a spear at some point in the future.
