So my 17 year old natural gas furnace began making a noisy sound sound when turning on. A google search reveals the induction motor is causing the noise. The noise continues while the gas flame is on. It happened for two days and then for a week the noise is gone only to return again. I suspect it is to do with the bearings/bushings for the motor. Should I wait until the motor is completely dead before replacing? Should I buy a furnace repair plan and hope the motor lasts for the 30 day waiting period?
