I've used kijiji plenty of times, both as a seller and buyer. All of my transactions went smooth as silk but then I've never looked at anything outlandishly advertised or priced. Kinda like the girls on BP, if it looks like BS , probably it is BS. Always buyer beware. If I'm selling something I try to make a public place to conclude the transaction such as Timmie's, less chance to get ripped off and any potential buyer feels safer too.

hey hi scdave2003, nice to see you, Merry Christmas!
I agree about meeting in a public place, it's too bad its cum to that as I use to have buyers pick up stuff all the time I had for sale! :) Maybe I should start doing incalls at Timmies! ha ha aha

Have used Kijjiji several times & mostly successfully.
Have encountered some jerks though, who reneged on their deal, both at the meet or before while setting it up.
So do be aware & careful.

AJstar, that is so true about "bumping into jerks", I just had an experience with kijiji recently. This is what started the thread on dealing with selling an item on kijiji & some of the weird buyers you will run into.

The consistent theme is that the buyers will almost always try to knock down your price. Haven't run into any "jerks" per se.

GTA & Thereabouts...
I've sold lots of things on Kijiji. Whatever price you have, they'll make an attempt to knock you down. You either price higher to compensate or price fair and stick to your guns.

No complaints overall. Price you stuff within reason and get a few bucks while getting rid of old shit.

You have to be careful buying electrical products on Kijiji. I know of several people who have bought appliances that didn't work when they got them home.

thats the two major issues.

buying faulty stuff thats basically counterfiet or just a scam cos it looks too good to b true, but when u actually get it and paid the full price for, and it turns out to b a complete dud. this happens on all sites, not just kijiji. but has happened to me on ebay too.

think its same for everything, even in an escort industy where ppl try to downsize the price, but the ladies try to scam u by giving excuses not to do their part, cut down on the session time, etc etc.

I once tried to buy a nice speaker from a kid putting up an ad for a speaker on a facebook buy and sell group, and he kept changing the meet time. never did manage to meet him

you've been lucky SkyRider as I sure ran into a few. I think what is most upsetting is when they say they will show up at a pre arranged time and then don't cum! That has got to be most aggravating!

I had once a guy that didn't show. Besides that I bought and sold no problem. The problem is weeding out all the crazy people that ask the price lowered or crazy things like meet me in the subway.

I have bought and sold items over the years including some relatively expensive things (over $2,000) Zero problems. One other note, if I need to get rid of something like an old BBQ or appliance I have posted it for free pick-up and it is usually gone same day.

onceaday, I've done the same thing with fridges & stoves and the local private guys cum by usually the same day and pick up my goodies. kijiji does work well for free scrap metal

I read recently about a guy who bought one of those hairless cats on CL or Kajiji .

Paid a fair price for the cat as they are very rare.

Anyhoo, after a week or so he began to notice that the cat was growing stubble.

Some more time passed and the stubble turned into fur. A full coat of fur as it turns out. I guess whoever sold the cat simply took a run of the mill house Cat and shaved it bald (which would be some job as cats aren't exactly known to sit still).

When you buy a hairless cat do you ask the vendor for their real name, address, phone number and two pieces of government ID. I know the pawn shops ask for all this stuff (required by law?).
