Annexation - Fuck Barrie. They do not deserve it. They will piss away the tax money on shit they don't need, scare away business like they always do. Residential city is all it will ever be!!

True this is not Newmarket but it seems like it gets closer and closer to being
newmarket every year. Plenty of tim hortons and shoppers
drug marts in Barrie
Not to mention payday loan type places.

Barrie wants to annex land from surrounding townships in order to continue expanding. Of course, the surrounding townships don't want to give up land for nothing, and Barrie city council can't come up with an agreement.

From what I understand, Barrie city hall is asking the Province to step in and force the other townships to cede land.

ok, i think I heard tid bits about this. Didn't they want to grab Innisfil which has the Georgian Downs racetrack? Lots of tax revenue there. bad news for Innisfil if that were to happen.

Too Fu**in bad for Barrie. Maybe it's time we set limits on how big a city can grow and waste land on development.

Barrie got the land it wanted. I don't really care and I live in Innisfil....still, but our mayor won't when the boundary changes.
