Does anyone realize how amazing this kid is?

He is now 10-1 on the season. He has a major league leading ERA of 1.83. He has 102 K's in 88.1 IP. His WHIP is 0.97. Opposing batters are hitting .203 off him.

Now can anyone tell me again why he isn't an All Star?

Oh wait, Ozzie Guillen is a turd and decides to bring his own players instead...Mark Buerhle is not deserving and you have this beast just sitting there, how the hell can Liriano being overlooked be justified in anyway?

Arguably the best pitcher in baseball right now, and he won't be in Pittsburgh, tisk tisk!

man we are thinking the same idea about Ozzie Guillen, there is no way the fans passed up on Liriano for that dumbass of a catcher

MLB lets the fans pick the all stars right?

If so, blame the stupid fans too.
Fans pick the starters....do not pick pitchers.

Sneaky is right though, there was the vote for the final roster spot...and somehow AJ Pierzynski gets voted on by the fans over Liriano...I believe for that vote, you could vote as many times as you wanted

While I do believe Liriano is worthy of being an All Star, it can be said that Liriano is just merely enjoying a really good month at the beginning of his young career as a starting pitcher. He made his first start of the season on May 19th and didn't go further than 6 innings into a start until June 11th (that's less than a month ago).

So in many ways Liriano is no different than a player hitting .488 in June with 10 HR's, and 35 RBI's. And we all know that doesn't necessarliy get you an all star spot.

Mind you, if Liriano would have started this feat in April or played for an east coast team (Red Sox, Yanks, Mets), he probably would have made the All Star game.

PS. I was shocked to see that the Jays will be on an ESPN game vs NYY on July 20th. Wow.

he didnt go deep into starts to build arm strength. He's been an absolute stud...he is 9-1 as a starter, and his worst outing he only gave up 3 ER.

Nevermind Dontrelle, he's been compared to Johan Santana.

Good month or not, he still deserves to be there over Mark Buerhle and AJ Pierzynski!

Buerhle most definitely. However, AJ was voted in. But somehow I think Ozzie's going to pick his own players that helped with the championship over Liriano. May you could give Ozzie a call and give him your $0.02, Just don't pretend to be Jay Mariotti.

Look at it this way, Liriano's missing a start, he can build up some of that arm strength you mentioned.

The All Star game lineup isn't worth 2nd guessing. It's an honour to go and it's a much need break for those that don't.

Kinda reminds me of Juan Guzman.

was anybody aware the Twins acquired Liriano, Joe Nathan, and Boof Bonser for AJ Pierzynski

now thats a lopsided trade
Yeah, just before the all star break you heard alot of that on ESPN radio. AJ lasted one year with the Giants before he was released. Very bad deal for the Giants.

10 K's today in only 5 IP...he is now an impressive 12-2

but perhaps we should also be looking at Jered Weaver, now 7-0, with 1.15 ERA
