At the Lakeshore dog leg at Cherry Street intersection.

Motor vehicle crashes hittng a concrete power pole are bad.
But hitting a support bent that holds up the elevated Gardiner Expresway deck.
That thing is not going to budge an inch.

The car while it burned, was bad.
But the frame after being loaded to the flat bed tow, man was the front smooshed.
Yes the bettery fire was eventful, but even an ICE vehicle likely would have had multiple fatalities.

Speed and hitting a concrete post- it does no matter what provided the car propulsion in this case.

Will see more of this as more EV's hit the roads. A good portion of the population are just unskilled at driving not to mention the idiot drivers, distracted drivers and the clueless ones. Throw in the acceleration performance of an EV, it's going to challenge people's lack of driving skills. Rented an entry level EV in Europe, by no means a sport model but in "sport" mode the acceleration was quite surprising.

Tesla tends to attract some odd customers due to the tech and the speed. Mine is one of the very quickest, and I have mine set in "chill" mode, still much faster than a Vette. Driving required concentration and some skill, and it is always wise to read the owners manual to learn how to operate doors manually.

I dont think they even died from the fire.
G forces would have did them in instantly.
Wonder how that one woman survived.

And the underside of the Lakeshore/Gardiner attracts a lot of FAST drivers who like to hear their ASSHOLE LOUD cars ripping and making a nuisance of themselves.

This x100. I drove a Tesla and my conclusion is that the onboard software has saved many accidents because these are not simple cars to drive. The power. The weight. The regenerative braking. You need to pay attention and the fact is most people don't.

Fortunately they didn't hit anyone else and kill other people.

Probably not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected. Ironic but it happens from time to time.

I guessed/speculated wrong.

Canada Post driver and another passerby had to smash out a rear window to get the one girl out. Real hero's IMO.

“But as soon as I got out of the truck, they were yelling, you know, that they needed a bar or something to break the window because they were basically pounding the window with their hands, and that wasn’t getting anybody anywhere. So, I grabbed the bar out of the truck I had,” Harper recounted to CTV News Toronto on Friday.

He and another person, who also stopped to help, smashed the back door window.

“(I) took a few swings at the window, and I passed the bar onto the fella beside me, and he took a few swings, and then the window came out. And then (it) was good to see the young lady come out head first out of the window,” Harper recalled.

The woman was able to walk away from the car and sit on the side of the road, where another passerby comforted her. Police said the 25-year-old woman was later taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
