Ok guys not a way to get enough bucks probably to go see an SP, but maybe for dinner after blowing your pooning allowance.

Read article in paper about Metro grocery stores having these machines that will sort all your change for cash. They take 9.8% for the privelege. I am sure many of us have jars of change over the years that they never get around to counting.

I tried it recently for first time, very easy to use. Had fair size jar, no loonies or toonies (think it best to take out prior, easy to do and why lose 10 cents on the dollar) mostly pennies. Came to over $100.........SWEET!! You get voucher for the cash that you bring to cashier to get your money, and dirty looks from the guy behind you for tying up the machine for 10 minutes.

If you don't mind spending those 10+ minutes you could just go to a grocery store and dump all those coins into one of the "self-checkout" machines.

Another good way to use up change is when buying lunch, you probably know the cost of favourite meals, so why not get the 46cents (or whatever number) out while waiting in line?

Strangely enough, those machines are wonderful. It's also quite incredible the amount of change one cumulates in a year. Last year, I had just over 3K in change, which I put into my RRSP plan. A penny saved is a penny earned.

Personally I don't use the machine. This time of the year I have more free time so I sort and roll it by hand. Only bitch is carrying it into the bank.
If I remember correctly two years ago I had just over $5000 and if i did the calculations right that was around 68lbs.

The machine at my local Metro gives you 100% back as a credit if you use it in their store. So use your change to buy food, and use the folding money you save to rent someone to eat!

Having said that, I have yet to do it and probably have a small fortune scattered around... And then there's the Canadian Tire money. I could probably buy a car with that... one part at a time.
