forums no longer remember me

On forums (including this one), I am no longer "remembered."

I enter my username, password, and click the box to "remember" me and I am remembered as long as I don't turn off the computer.

If I turn off the computer and go back to these forums, I have to enter my username and password again.

How do I make sure that my log-on information for forums stays "remembered" even after turning off my computer?

Thank you.

Your computer is deleting all the 'cookies' either when you shut down or reboot. It shouldn't normally do that. You might have a setting in some third party software that's doing it.

If you use Firefox as your browser and if this happens every time you close your browser only then its the "Clear Private Data" feature of Firefox. One can set it to clear various items manually or when you close the browser.

Like thirdtime stated, some app. is deleting the cookies which holds various site authentication.

Hey guys,

more info: I'm running Internet Explorer 6 on Windows XP SP2.

when I click on Tools>Internet Options>Privacy, I moved "Settings" to "Accept All Cookies"

still having the same problems on not being remembered.

Any ideas of what apps or what kind of apps may be deleting the cookies?

I'm also worried that it could be spyware and it's trying to get my logon info by having me enter it all the time. I have an up to date virus scanner and nothing came up. I also am running Zone Alarm.

Thanks for the help.

You answered your own question!

1. Open Zone Alarm and click "Privacy" on the left side of the window.
2. In the section labeled "Cookie Control," click the "Custom" button
3. The "Custom Privacy Options" window will appear. On the "Cookies" tab, make sure that "Block session cookies" is unchecked.

Bell Sympatico as well as many others now also have their own installed security management software. Regardless, it's most likely all about cookie control!

Hi,

I have Rogers service and Zone Alarm 6.1.x (free version)

I don't see a Privacy tab on the left. I tried click all the tabs and going into submenus but couldn't find anything with regards to "cookie control" or the like.

My virus program is Trend Micro. I looked through all the menus here too and couldn't find anything with respect to cookie control.

The thing is, this problem with forums started happening only recently and I don't know what changed or how it changed. I haven't installed any new programs.

Although I have been doing alot of downloading and am worried it could be a virus...?

Thanks for the help guys.

I'm also using Rogers (ISP) and Trend Micro Anti-Virus. No problems at all. I've never heard of Zone Alarm but it sounds like that might be the culprit.
