Former rookie Peel police officer sentenced to 18 months probation in shooting of Mississauga Black woman

Valerie Briffa, 32, a former Peel Regional police officer, shot Chantelle Krupka, then 34, on Mother’s Day 2020. Police were responding to a call, from Krupka’s ex-partner, of an alleged harassment related to a custody issue.

Honestly, I feel bad for this now ex-cop. I truly believe she didn’t mean it and the people they were going to see that night are clearly agitators based on their behaviour that night, the harassment the women was giving her ex which was the reason for the call and their behaviour in the courtroom.

This seems like a fair sentence for an accident. If she had died, different story but she is ok and will sue and get money for damages so it all ends well.

Yes, sucks for the former officer buy she is currently doing police like jobs in municipal organisations. Once the air clears I would not be surprised to see her be a cop again.

I also would not be surprised that the one shot does not see a fair amount of police interest in her life going forward as well. .

You know if people could just respect authority instances like this won't happen. This Krupka degenerate is a real piece of work.
Const. Briffa made a bad mistake and her career in policing is basically over before it started. I agree with the judge's decision here.
