Good for you-I am holding GM lol , it should come back too but gee guess not like Ford.

Last week I would have said SELL but theres some good news coming out. Kirk Kerkorian, is increasing his stake-thats should be a very positive for the stock and Ford might have a contract with the CAW already-if so thats a great sign, many thought there be a strike this Fall.

You could sell some-25 to 50% but 50% is the most I sell right now.

PS...way back when, many moons ago Ford was a $50 stock, its hard to believe it might never make another record high-but in our lifetime

Just a suggestion... Take off part of the position. Put in a stop to lock in profits.

Ford and GM are real crapshoots now. The US auto companies are in a depression right now. They can't compete against the Japs and China is ready to ship in even cheaper cars that has Japan worried. Chrysler is out of the picture now since becoming a German company.

It is real sad how badly the US auto industry has fallen. Our economy suffers greatly from all those good paying jobs being lost.

I agree with you about the good paying jobs, but Chrysler hasn't been a German company in a while now.

Ford is still a risky investment
There are so many other quality companies who have a competitive advantage and who are continuing to pile up ever increasing positive earnings & cash flow.
You have made 60% on your investment
Its your $, however if it was me I would
1. Sell the amount equal to the original investment. Then you are working with other peoples money & if it goes to zero its not a disaster
2. Sell it all & move on

Maybe a good question to ponder is what are the odds of Ford going to $10 or $20 with one positive quarter & still expecting full year loss.
Also what are the odds the Japanese are still going to eat fords lunch over the long run given what a mess ford was (still is???), while ford & GM deal with bloated production costs and massive legacy benefit issues.

This is not a good long term investment which will let you sleep @ night without worry.
But if you like the risky stuff, I hope it hits 15$ for you

If I am not mistaken, Diamler Benz or whatever it is called now, still owns a 20% stake in Chrysler

My sell on Ford is $18.79, so I'm in it for the long haul. I added it to the portfolio 2 weeks ago at $6.51.

I always have sell targets before I take a position.

It's funny though that it's always the American Auto Manufacturers that outperform any other worldly car companies. They tend to be very good at bouncing back and thus, buy when they are beat up... I've done this with Ford (perhaps the least reliable vehicle of the bunch) on and off since my dad showed me when I was a young kid. In-and-Out-- just like sex.

It's always good to remember that like boeing, Ford & GM frequently supply military contracts & other specialty niches. Just because a company's private sector business is tanking all to fuck doesnt mean they are down & out or even growing..... Best to keep n eye on which ones have gov contracts & try to predict when the best times are based on demand..... Fuck the public & wt their tastes are... too fickle to predict.

You don't make (or loose) a cent until you sell.
60% in 4-6 wks is great ! Don't get greedy.
At $5.12 you pretty much perfected the bottom.

Hunter has the right idea.

My problem is the fact that I will have to pay taxes now when I want to hold on as long as possible IF there is still sufficient steam left in the stock...

21pro, your may more long on this than I am...my sell target was basically there 52wk high of roughly 13.25/share...

I understand my greed in this stock, its had a good run and I'm afriad more of selling to take some profit and then having a less of a gain (relative to holding onto the whole initial investment and riding the elevator another level)...wow...not sure if anything in this post made sense lol...

BTW, anyone own MA or V? obviously I'm speaking in retrospect, but I sold MA after only a short hold and only made about 15% and wow..its a rocket...hopefully V will push ahead now..its broke $80 finally...
