FORD Slipping - Now I'm WORRIED!

Whats going on!! No screw ups! No arrests! No front pages this week!!!

I was counting for a messup by FORD and another jump in the polls!!

If he does not screwup soon and release some sorrowful tidbit for newspaper fodder...he could crash in the polls.!!

THAT WORRIES ME!!

I got no real problem with him going after ILLEGAL activity.


I rememebr years ago...hookers used to walk Queen west all the way out to King. Somehow..they got rid of the girls..and its actually much nicer there at night. Clubs and all areas have improved.

SO...Never will you stop the worlds oldest profession.....but to ramp up a bit of right wing "clean up the crime sweep" - I got no probelm.

Who knows..they may save a few underage girls from pimps!!

I am old enough to remember Emannual Jaques back in the 70's and the snake pit young st was at the time. illegal activity needs to be controlled and any councellor that actually does work towards that end as opposed to trying to solve the worlds problems out of the toronto financed offices in london would be a good choice

I'm pulling for Ford but never did I think he was a strong favorite. I still say he is a long shot. This is Toronto. I'm actually amazed that he polled so well.

This came up last year or over the winter, at the time I thought Ford would be nuts to run to much baggage, I still don't know if he can effectively run municipal government but if he wins he deserves the opportunity

Like incalls, or outcall agencies. The only form of prostitution that is clearly fully legal in Canada is independent outcall escorts. Incalls are clearly illegal--all of them--and outcall agencies are probably illegal under the "living off the avails" law. As mayor all Ford would have to do is direct the Toronto Police Service to crack down.

Don't believe it's possible? Check out York Region. Ford would probably make York look SP friendly.

Sure you are correct that you will "never stop the world's oldest profession" but in a lot of jurisdictions a lot of people wind up with criminal records. It doesn't stop it, but that's what happens.

The issue would have to come onto FORDS radar screen.

Given the state of the Union in Toronto...and all its debt...I doubt he will push for more Police to crack down at this stage.

Why not, it would be popular with you unthinking law and order types, you guys love a good story about cracking down on the bad guys, and Ford has shown no sign that he understand finances so I don't think cost would stop him. You yourself just said you think it would be great if he cracked down on the illegal activity, which if you want to be technically correct, is most of what this board is about.

So your idea is that if he cracked down on, say, Mirage and Roommates and all the other high profile agencies around here that this would be a good thing because he would be saving "young girls and foreign ladies" from pimps.
