The first ministers conference was an unmitigated disaster for Prime Minister Trudeau. The provincial premiers think he (Trudeau) doesn't give a damn about their province and that is because he actually doesn't give a damn about their province, especially Alberta..

Trudeau was looking at holding a love-fest and talking about nice Christmasy things, but the premiers were there for tough talk and getting down to business (something he is not good at).

Trudeau is bound and determined to ram his carbon tax down the throats of taxpayers, even if some provinces, such as Ontario, are well on their way to meeting his targets! Yes, his targets without taxing the people. Forget a carbon tax and fuck the Paris accords. Canada should have enough expertise to set their own targets as a nation and allow each province to achieve them on their own accord. If a province fails to meet the targets, then let that province deal with the feds.

Trudeau is a fucking dimwit and it is a crying shame that the conservatives fucked the taxpayers of this country by electing a dickwad in Scheer.

We can only pray that Scheer will "Patrick Brown" himself, then the PC's can elect a competent leader and in the election of 2019 the people of this country can send the shiny pony on to his next adventure in life as paid by his daddy's trust fund.

On this issue I think the Golden Boy is wrong, he expects some provinces to do more than others.

he doesn't give a damn about Alberta? He took the political risk to invest 13B in pipeline to get Alberta oil to tide water, for a province that did not even vote for him and you say he does not give a damn?

What does it matter about right or wrong. Don't you understand how the world works? Canada is the most junior member of the G7, the G7 decided in the Paris accords on a plan. The G7 includes all our most important trading partners. Canada has NO CHOICE in the matter. Sure we can say fuck off, but we depend on these partnerships and to think we can do whatever the fuck we want is idiotic.

Trudeau and Macron might want to consider taking a long cruise around the world. Things could get messy at home. Actually, things are now already messy at home for Macron.

BTW: To paraphrase the Premier of Alberta: "Trudeau doesn't give a damn about Alberta."

nottyboi I believe he spent the money on the pipeline with no intention of ever building it. I hope I am wrong on this but that is the way I see it.

BC has had to stop fracking for oil due to the earthquake risk. Alaska is blaming BC for the series of earthquakes that have hit their coast. In Oklahoma which is plains country they can get away with it with minimal damage. Not so in the mountainous BC interior. Anchorage was hit by another quake two days ago and Alaskans are hopping mad.

The building of the Tidewater Pipeline is not a question of political will. It's geologically impossible to build a pipeline through the Cascade Mountains. They are geologically unstable, with the glaciers east of Whistler melting the threat of massive mudslides is increasing. It's already happening and it's only going to get worse. There are three dormant volcanoes in the area, Mt Reager has already revived. With the retreating glaciers a massive rockface collapse may be inevitable. To placate Alberta, Vancouver risks being hit by an onrushing wall of mud and rock.

Is that worth the risk of getting fossil fuels to market? A massive rockface collapse has already happened, in BC it won't need a volcanic explosion.

I do when the rest of the world starts cutting their carbon they so can we. Most of the countries involved emissions are going up, not down.

The moron bought a pipeline that he can not get built
So he has accomplished NOTHING
In fact he has cause more problems than he has addressed by killing one pipeline outright & instructing his bureaucrats to make the third uneconomic
Any one with common sense would have had a least one of these built before pulling the plug on the other two

He is trying to walk the line between the environmentalist & sound economics & he is making a mess of it for both sides
