I had someone download a freebee version of AlarmZone onto my computer about 3+ yrs ago. Is this still a good system; outdated; or are they better, store purchased, firewall software out there.

Appreciate any comments. Thanks.

i have used the last two versions of zone alarm 3.0 and 4.0. There are some issues with 3.0 and certain isp's that created some real slow surfing for me. I recently deleted zone alarm and switched to a hardware router/firewall for $149 at futureshop and noticed a HUGE difference in start up speed. I wont be going back to zone labs anytime soon because of the resources it uses from my pc.

I found that every software firewall slows things down too much for me. I purchased a routter for my home and created a network, and the router makes things a lot faster than my old software firewall...
