Only saw bits and peices of this game because CBC opted to show womens skiing and speed skating instead of most of this game, but from what I saw, the Americans discipline killed them. Even strength they were playing quite well, and gave the Finns all they could handle right down to the end.

Go 1-4-1 and lose every single game by a goal. That's pretty tough.

I'd like for somebody to explain how it's possible for the American team to come here with anybody else but John Tortorella as head coach.

When you have a guy who so clearly outcoached two of the best coaches in the NHL in the '04 Playoffs, has a track record of straightening out todays million dollar head cases, and is an American, how can he not be a coach for a team with a recent history of imploding?

Referee

Incidentally, down the stretch of that game it sure looked like the Canadian referee was trying to nudge the game in the direction of the Americans so that Canada would not meet Finland again.

It's been almost unthinkable to impeach NHL officials for national bias, but North Americans make these allegations of European officials all the time, even though they don't care about hockey nearly as much. Canadians are incapable of supressing their emotions when it comes to hockey.

I think it's fair to assign officials from countries which don't have an immediate stake in the outcome in terms of the next game.
