Most sps will not accept a drink under any circumstances unless they know you well. Too much risk of their drink being drugged.

Just tell her the truth that you tend to be nervous in first meetings as most ladies will make an extra effort for you. Well, the good ones will.
LOL@Frid...Ping never said anything about a first meeting with an SP...he simply said a first meeting. (Me thinks some people are jaded lol)

Ping.I really enjoy a good Chateu Neuf Du Pape. Another one of my favorites is a Chateau Duluc Saint Julian 1996. If you prefer Ontario wines, any of the Hildebrand Trius wines are also quite nice at a reasonable price

I may not have posted 300 times, but I did join in 2001. So each can draw his own conclusions. As for the poison thing...well- I must be pretty naive that because I never really gave it any thought; besides; the wine is actually a nice ice breaker that is intended to relax me as much as her. So Its not like Im about to uncork a bottle of wine and start chug-a-lugging it if Ive spiked it with anything but spanish fly and viagra.

THose wines sound fine, but I think I remember getting sold some hildebrand wine at Loblaws one time that was kind of nasty.

thanks

I have to admit that I don't usually buy Ontario wines. I don't have a problem with them per se. Frankly I think I'm just a bit of a snot. That being said I would agree that many Hildebrand wines can be nasty. However, I find that the Trius family are diamonds in the rough. On the other hand I haven't tried any of the whites nor will I, but the reds are great.

Ive scribbled those names down to check out at the LCBO tomorrow. Its too bad that people cant simply enjoy a drink without fear of drugs. What ever happened to a nice dinner and a satisfied palet? I just dont get it

Im surprised that there are no SP's offering the GYDATAOY service. It would involve a very outgoing SP who invites (ME) into her place, the Gets You(ME) Drunk And Takes Advantage Of You(ME)...then THey'd have their place full of wines and lik-er's. THen shuyguys like me woulnt be so uncomfortable.

Mind you at the end, Id wind up paying a 10 drink tab at their bar before getting to leave :p

Didja mean Chateauneuf du Pape?
Hillebrand maybe?
Dunno from a Chateau Duluc Saint Julian, but I'm guessing your odds of picking up any '96 at your local LCBO aren't great.
You really have a wealth of choices, can't go wrong in the $15 - $25 bracket, especially from Vintages.
Try a California Cab, or an Aussie Shiraz if red is your, or her, preference.
For whites, a Sauv. Blanc from NZ is always nice, or try a Riesling or Gewurtz from Alsace.

I think very few ladies would object to a sealed bottle of wine.
Look for a quality wine with a screwtop. There's no chance it's corked, and no corkscrew required.

I consider that they might have an alcohol problem and won't bring any unless mention is made that they drink.

There is a vinyard in California which is promoting the use of screw tops based on it being a superior system . Their wines are excellent and sell at between $16 and $24 ( look in the vintage section - I think the name of the vinyard is Bonny Doon or something similar) . I have also seen a vintage offering by Wolf Blass in the $30 range with a screw top.

I have been doing this for 4 years and have offered wine at 75% of the appointments - mainly with HDH providers. Less than 10% have declined.
