I fine the error story relevant, a character could easily say that and be wrong. Thought some kind of note should have been made in the credits and/or line pointing out that it was falsehood. The falsehood shows the sexism of the narrator, which I assumed on watching it if I remember correctly.

There has never been a movie that accurately portrays the life of a person. It's always "based on" the life of that person. Netflix will weigh the cost of defending the lawsuit versus coming to a settlement and she will walk away happy. That's what many media outlets have done. They paid a settlement on the condition the plaintiff doesn't publicize what it is.
