Fax/Telephone device

I am looking for a device that allows a fax machine to tell the difference between a regular phone call and a fax. Anyone hear of such a beasty?

Many years ago I had a voice/data/fax modem that could distinguish the type of call. Don't know if they still make them but it sounds like what you're looking for.

Bell has the feature built into the line.

You can have another phone number, on the same line as your existing number. The new number will have a "distinctive ring”, which your fax machine will recognize and answer, once programmed. Cost is minimal, and it gives you another phone number to use as a fax number. Can also have a second phone line at home, but the cost is the cost of a second line.
