Favourite spots to live

I read a post by Karatekid earlier this week. He mentions that he's met and married an incredible lady, gotten a six figure job and that he's moving out west and away from the GTA and that he can't wait to leave. I wish him the very best.

It got me thinking about living in this neck of the woods. I think we are very fortunate to be residing in or around Toronto. I work in the burbs but live about 1/2 hour outside of the City in the Oakridges Moraine (best of both worlds).

We have some of the finest ladies in the world (Danielle, Kathleen, Vanessa). Our MPs are probably tops in the world and the SCs are the next best to Niagara Falls. I have met some of the nicests, well educated and drop-dead gorgeous ladies.

If you're into the outdoors, we can spend about 2 hours on the road and be into the Muskokas or near Georgian Bay or the Kawarthas or Haliburton.

I'm just wondering where other Terbites would want to find themselves living if they had a choice. I'm not talking about the Tourists destinations like Hawaii or Cancun Mexico but are there other spots in Canada or other Countries that you would love to move to on a permanent basis.

I am pretty happy living right in the old part of Toronto - High Park.

To me, living in the 905 would be just about unthinkable. To live in the land of pressure treated wood and minivans and big box stores - No way.

Other areas of Toronto I would consider living:

The Annex
Summerhill
Beaches
Rosedale / Moore Park
Riverdale
Parts of Parkdale


Other than that, I would move back to the hammer before I would live in burbland.

In Canada I'd say Vancouver. Its a world class city thats not too big. Has everything you'd want. Culture, sports, gorgeous scenery. Where else can you golf and ski/snowboard in the same day? I lived there for 8 years and miss it terribly. Ill be back for good one day im sure.

Outside Canada, id have to say Spain. I love the Spanish ladies and the country is so beautiful. Beaches, mountains, relaxed attitude. Id own a bar on the beach and be a bum. Hell not far from what im doing now but it would be nicer in Spain..lol

I'll add a US destination. Oregon coast. I travelled there many times while i lived in Vancouver. The drive along the coast is spectacular. The beaches are long sandy and no hotels as the land is government owned and want to keep them as they are. there are some beach houses but miles and miles of clean sandy beach. There are also sand dunes where you can walk for miles or take a dune buggy out for a spin. Love it. The west coast lifestyle is great. Id live in a beach house, own a bar and do what i want when i want. All this talk is making me homesick
