I don't know why TCM schedules their prime films so late, Jason and the Argonauts was on at 11.30pm. A perennial favorite, I stayed up long enough to nasty Talos kick ass.

Call me old school but I'll take Ray Harryhausen over tedious CGI anytime. Bernard Herrmann score has has been digitally remastered.

Best date film of all time.

Conrad Veidt (Major Strasser) continues to influence modern culture to this day. He was a superstar of the German Impressionist Movement and a humanitarian. He hated Hitler and was forced into exile. Many of his characters were reproduced by others, most notably Bob Kane who took his Gwynplaine and turned him into The Joker. Most recently he lent his name to Watchmen.

He became fast friends with Bogie, they made three films together.

You beat me to it. I personally think this scene was the pinnacle of Tom Cruise's acting career, which is by most accounts pretty stellar. Jack wasn't too shabby himself.
