Heard Jim Lang as well as Roger Lajoie talking about this on the air today. Sad news. He was arguably the most popular caller to the Fan590. Sounded like a pretty funny guy too his calls were always fun to listen to.

He and Bob McCown always had good chemistry with a good sense of humour. It's regulars like him(and the cab driver Allen) that make the call in portions of the shows so interesting. RIP John.

That is sad news - he was funny and very knowledgeable on numerous sports. I will miss he banter with Bob McGown, always made the drive home a little more enjoyable!

Who has looked for the best in others and given the best he had;
Whose life was an inspiration
Whose memory is a benediction

Hope Bobcat puts in a word during Prime Time about John. "Yo Bobcat!"

He will be missed.

"Yo Bobcat!"

That was totally his patented phrase . You knew it was Raptorize John when he would say "Yo Bobcat!" I'll miss hearing his familiar voice on the air.

Jeez. He sounded younger them me. I always thought he was in his 30s or 40s .... well I guess he could have been.
Any one know how old he was or what he died of ? How did the FAN find out ?

I liked him.

RIP RJ.

Im in my mid 30s and he sounded older than me so I would have guessed he was mid 40s just based on his voice but thats just a guess.

I believe it was first mentioned from someone who Im guessing was a friend or co-worker of Raptorize John...

Also, Eric Smith , Paul Jones and Roger Lajoie have discussed it on their twitter accounts as well.

He once said he was in his 50's.

I remember being shocked because he sounded a lot younger with his enthusiasm.

It's incredible, #YoJohn is trending on Twitter tonight. Eric Smith is re-tweeting anyone using that hashtag.

Ironhead, apparently Raptorize John's son called in to the Rap (Raptors postgame) show with Eric and Paul tonight on Fan590 and gave the details of John's passing.

The Fan590 has put up the audio of the interview on the website. For those who are interested in listening to the son of Raptorize John discuss with Eric Smith and Paul Jones about his dad just go to the website and scroll down until you see the two audio files labelled "Raptorized Evan with Paul Jones and Eric Smith"

He was my favourite regular caller on that station. I wished that he had his own show there as a host.
I'll miss him.
RIP.

Thanks.

He sure sounded like he was younger then I am.
I pictured him as a younger(then me), black male, who was into basketball.
