I love that the 2011 cars are finally out. Did you see the pics of the new McLaren yet? They're the only car that looks different - the way they've contoured the radiator openings and the side pods. Maybe they figured out something the other teams haven't. Could be 2011's version of the diffuser argument.

What the hell did Kubica do? These guys love competition but in a dangerous profession like there's you would think they would limit their exposure. From what I've heard he's been put in an induced coma and he could possibly lose his hand. I guess his hand was partially severed and it might be alright. Rally seems too much of a risk to take when you make the kind of money a good F1 driver earns.

For those that haven't heard

IMHO, most of us will never understand the competitive forces that work on these guys. The "need" to race, not matter what, can overwhelm what we might view as common sense. I hope he makes it back.

I agree. F1 is a demanding sport, but the season is so short that the drivers have to do something in the off season to stay sharp. A lot of them drive karts, and some of them do the rally car thing. Kubica is pretty busted up. I just read a story that stated that he was moving the fingers on his reattached hand today - which is great news. The doctors have yet to repair his shattered arm and elbow & are going to have to operate again to do so.

I'd hate to think that he threw away his F1 career in a rally car. Here's to hoping that he makes it back to an F1 cockpit someday - but I doubt he'll be driving in competition anywhere for a while.
