The first batch of reviews are in, very positive (although I'm sure there will be negative reviews, click bait for the droid Apple haters)

Everyone Is In Love With The iPhone 6

Walt Mossberg of Re/code says:
It’s my recommendation for the best smartphone you can buy.

Molly Wood of The New York Times praised the battery life:
I went almost two full days without a charge.

Sorry .. the term EVERYONE .. means no exceptions ! Besides - instead of looking at specs, you should be looking at the logo then you will know that you love it.
LOL, yes a bit of hyperbole - but it wasn't mine....

Not worth it. Maybe if it had saphire yes or waterproof, or better battery life yes but nothing came out with this release that excites me.
It does have better battery life. One of the reviewers was talking about it going 2 days on a single charge.

Meh... my coworkers are raving too...

Until Apple changes their philosophy on the things below, I will NEVER buy an iPhone.

1. File Manager - I don't need to see the file system, just want to manage where/how I store my data. This way, if I want to use different apps to open a media file, I can.
2. Expandable storage - I still can't believe no one is challenging Apple on their ethics. This whole 16GB, 64GB etc for different models is nothing but a marketing scam and money grab.
3. User Replaceble battery - Really? In this day and age? Batteries are the first things to go on a phone...or I might want to carry a spare...

I have no problems with the overall design of Applie products. In fact, I'm buying a Mac next year. Not because I love MacOSX, but because my 6 year old laptop has some hardware issues, all new laptops comes with Windows 8, and it's too much of a pain to get Linux working properly on brand new hardware anyway...

I know Apple may never fix my 3 deal breakers above, so I'll make do with my Android...at the end of the day, it's a phone....sheesh...
Couldn't have said it better myself. I'm not gonna pay over 1k for a 64 gb model nor would i upgrade again to the 6 to be locked in my contract for another 2 years.

It makes sense. You're not hating it based on who makes it. You have specific needs which it won't meet.

While I like the size of the new iPhone 6 and the camera is undoubtedly better, but overall I don't see anything that would make me want to switch from my Z30.

At the end of the day, how much memory really is needed? 128 GB is going to be a huge amount of pictures and songs.........

I remember people laughing at computers with a ridiculously massive 1gig hard drive. If you make it, they will come.

Apparently, the new iPhone won't allow governments to peep into your data.

Why don't I believe that?

If I recall correctly at one point (and I'd assume still) it was illegal for Americans to use encryption software the government couldn't crack.

No, the government placed export restrictions on encryption for awhile. It was treated as munitions until 2000 when lobbying from the tech industry got Congress to ease those restrictions.

That's technology level, the real question is whether the government have been given the keys to be able to easily access the data anyway despite encryption.

Lavabit is a discontinued encrypted webmail service, founded in 2004. The service suspended it operations on August 8, 2013 after US government ordered it to turn over its Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) private keys. Lavabit is owned and operated by Ladar Levison.

AFAIK, Apple no longer has a record of their private key. I wish I could find the source, remember reading about it.

So if Apple were to turn over data to any form of LE, it would be encrypted and they would be responsible to crack it through brute-force or with rainbow tables.

EFF seems to be pleased with Apple - https://www.eff.org/who-has-your-back-2014#apple
