This morning, gave an ex a Gift Certificate for a salon, which she likes. Thought it was just a nice thing to do. Well holy smokes I got a lot of sarcasm over the gift chosen, and then a bunch of anger. And it was not for a small amount. Oh, she kept it, cause I know she likes the place. Last time I listen to those rug rats of mine.

More than made up for it when I saw someone in the evening, which was really awesome.

the hobby needs more capitalism
Why do you think the saying "No good deed goes unpunished" is in the lexicon?

Well at least she reminded you why she was your ex! But seriously a) what was her problem with the gift (did she think you were trying to get back together with her?) and b) why are you giving expensive gifts to your ex? Just curious

................sarcasm??...........anger??

Leave it for a while and then tell her that you may have offended her with your gift. Tell her it was sincere and you thought she may have liked it.
Tell her apologetically that you will try not to be so thoughtless in the future and you will think before getting her a gift that makes her angry.

...........................Next year, get her a a McD certificate for a happy meal!

Well, thought it was nice gesture for giving me some nice kids. I think my kids felt guilty about them not getting her anything, and kind of did it through me. Won't be doing that ever again.

Next year, tell her that a donation was made in her name to the Human Fund.

I wasnt criticising you for the gesture, it was nice in fact and too bad more estranged couples remembered that they were once something to each other (esp when kids are involved). If i had to guess, sounds like she is bitter, and thinks you are trying to "buy" your way back into her good books. But im just gussing.

Yes, words to live by.

Unfortunately I had to get kicked in the head a couple of times for it to sink in. Never talk to or do something nice for an ex.
